System Development Engineer III

Amazon Lab126, a pioneering subsidiary of Amazon.com established in 2004, is seeking a Senior System Development Engineer to join their innovative consumer electronics development team. The role focuses on designing and optimizing build systems and developer tools that are crucial for the company's software development workflow. As a senior team member, you'll be responsible for leading the architecture of Yocto-based build systems that power more than a dozen product lines. You'll be joining a team of experienced engineers in the Device OS organization who manage build and release infrastructure, as well as developer experience self-service tools. The team comprises professionals with diverse backgrounds in SCM, DevOps, AWS technology stacks, Yocto, and Build Toolchains.

The position offers significant technical challenges and opportunities for growth. You'll be working with distributed systems at scale, implementing fault-tolerant solutions, and collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams. The role requires expertise in modern programming languages, Linux/Unix environments, and CI/CD pipelines.

Key responsibilities include leading feature development, driving projects from conception to launch, and ensuring high availability and performance of critical developer tools. You'll also participate in on-call rotations and work directly with customers to balance feature requests with system stability.
