Amazon's In-House Controls (IHC) team within World-Wide Central Engineering is seeking System Development Engineers to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the deployment of cutting-edge automation solutions across Amazon's international network. As a System Development Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of developing, deploying, and scaling automated solutions globally.

The position requires a continuous improvement mindset and readiness to "lead from the front" in on-site commissioning of automation lines. Your expertise in Codesys, Object-Oriented Industrial Programming (OOIP), and handling High-Impact Events (HIE) will be essential in creating robust, scalable solutions for Amazon's global automation infrastructure.

Responsibilities For System Development Engineer, In-House Controls, Central Engineering

  • Lead global deployments of automation projects, including on-site commissioning and site acceptance tests (SAT)
  • Develop and implement commissioning SOPs for new installations
  • Manage High-Impact Events (HIE) to ensure minimal operational disruption
  • Train RME Automation Engineers and Senior Technicians
  • Drive continuous improvement
  • Contribute to engineering reviews, impacting solutions for systems and architecture
  • Analyze system performance and provide process optimization recommendations
  • Lead a team of commissioning engineers

Requirements For System Development Engineer, In-House Controls, Central Engineering

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in a related STEM field
  • Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
  • Experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering
  • Advanced technical expertise in industrial automation systems (TIA Portal 16+, Codesys 3.5, HMI, VFDs, Profinet, IO-Link)
  • Knowledge of Object-Orientated Programming (OOIP)
  • Experience managing High-Impact Events (HIE) in an industrial setting
  • Willingness to travel up to 80% internationally
