Description For System-SW Data Engineer

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS's services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you'll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS.

As a Data Engineer at Amazon, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing our data pipelines and infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, ensure data quality, and deliver high-quality data solutions. Your expertise in AWS technologies and data engineering will be crucial to our success.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines
  • Collaborating with HW and SW Engineers and other stakeholders
  • Implementing data integration and transformation processes using AWS services
  • Ensuring data quality, integrity, and security
  • Optimizing data storage and retrieval processes
  • Developing and managing ETL processes
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting data pipeline issues
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices
  • Mentoring junior data engineers

Requirements For System-SW Data Engineer

  • 8+ years of data engineering experience
  • Familiarity with AWS technologies such as Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
  • Experience building data products incrementally and integrating and managing data sets from multiple sources
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT, or equivalent
