Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to revolutionize global broadband access through a constellation of 3,000+ low Earth orbit satellites. As a Systems Development Engineer in the Kuiper Enterprise Technology team, you'll be at the forefront of building the software, services, and infrastructure that power this groundbreaking program.

The role combines AWS expertise with satellite technology innovation. You'll work in a hybrid environment alongside System Developers, SDEs, and Systems Engineers, focusing on designing and implementing service infrastructure for satellite production. The position requires expertise in AWS services, including EC2, Cloud Development Kit (CDK), CloudFormation, and AppStream.

Key responsibilities include managing cloud infrastructure, building enterprise-grade AWS environments using Infrastructure as Code, architecting solutions on AWS GovCloud, and driving operational excellence through dashboarding and monitoring. You'll be instrumental in automating routine tasks, maintaining architecture documentation, and ensuring seamless network connectivity.

Responsibilities For Systems Development Engineer, Kuiper Enterprise Technology

  • Provision and manage AWS infrastructure, including EC2, Cloud Development Kit (CDK), CloudFormation templates, AppStream, and Load Balancers
  • Design and manage cloud, on-premise and hybrid service environments
  • Build dashboarding and alarming to drive operational excellence
  • Build enterprise-grade AWS application environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Architect and setup infrastructure on AWS GovCloud
  • Monitor network connectivity between all internal and external systems
  • Partner with application owners to understand needs and plan for infrastructure demands
  • Drive automation of routine tasks to help scale the operations
  • Maintain hardware architecture documentation
