Description For Systems Development Engineer, Managed Operations

AWS is launching its first European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a groundbreaking initiative in utility computing. This role is crucial in building and leading operations and development teams for high-availability AWS services like EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock, specifically for EU customers. As a Systems Development Engineer in the AWS Managed Operations team, you'll be at the forefront of this launch planned for 2025, working with global AWS teams to shape the future of AWS services and technology.

The position combines hands-on technical leadership with operational excellence, focusing on improving service availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency. You'll be part of AWS Utility Computing (UC), which drives product innovations from foundational services to cutting-edge features that distinguish AWS in the industry.

AWS values diverse experiences and maintains an inclusive culture through employee-led affinity groups and ongoing learning opportunities. The company offers strong work-life harmony and emphasizes career development through mentorship and knowledge-sharing. This role requires participation in on-call rotations and demands a balance between day-to-day operations and long-term software engineering to reduce operational toil.

The ideal candidate will have strong software development experience, Linux expertise, and cloud systems knowledge. You'll be joining a team that supports specialized security solutions for AWS customers and contributes to one of the world's largest cloud providers.
