Description For Systems Development Engineer, Managed Operations

AWS is launching its first European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a groundbreaking initiative in utility computing. As a Systems Development Engineer in the AWS Managed Operations team, you'll be at the forefront of building and leading operations teams dedicated to delivering high-availability AWS services like EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock exclusively for EU customers.

The role combines day-to-day operations management with long-term software engineering to reduce operational toil. You'll work closely with global AWS teams, influencing service evolution and technology development. Your responsibilities include overseeing the ESC launch in 2025, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring optimal service performance.

Requirements For Systems Development Engineer, Managed Operations

  • 3+ years of experience in software development with proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Java, Typescript, Python, or Ruby)
  • 3+ years of experience with Linux, command line, and computer networking fundamentals

  • Experience supporting cloud systems or other services
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Legal right to work in Ireland
