Description For Systems Engineer, Kuiper Ground Systems

Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to create a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites aimed at providing high-speed broadband connectivity to underserved communities worldwide. As a Systems Engineer on the Ground Systems team, you'll play a crucial role in developing and implementing cutting-edge satellite communication systems.

The position involves working with advanced antenna systems and satellite communications technology, specifically focusing on Gateway and Tracking, Telemetry, and Control (TT&C) terminals. You'll be responsible for developing architecture, specifications, and designs for parabolic LEO TT&C and Gateway Terminal systems, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work on technology that will directly impact global connectivity. You'll be part of a team responsible for the architecture, design, build, and installation of Kuiper's Ground and TT&C Gateways, working closely with Ground Infrastructure Services, Networks, Regulatory, Payload Test, and RF Systems teams.

The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $116,300 to $201,200 based on location and experience, plus additional benefits including equity and medical coverage. Responsibilities For Systems Engineer, Kuiper Ground Systems

  • Develop architecture, specifications, requirements, and designs for parabolic LEO TT&C and Gateway Terminal systems
  • Work with implementation teams to troubleshoot issues and perform data-driven analysis
  • Support Ground Systems team and suppliers in product development and qualification activities
  • Develop monitoring and control systems and methodologies
  • Support ongoing operations including fault analysis and resolution
  • Communicate regularly on status, risk, and change control

Requirements For Systems Engineer, Kuiper Ground Systems

Python
  • 4+ years of systems engineering experience in development and delivery of satellite communications systems
  • 2+ years of RF systems experience, preferably with ground tracking antennas and systems
  • Experience in product design, and/or integration and test at Ka-band
  • In-depth understanding of satellite communications link budgets
  • Experience supporting ground systems development efforts
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience-education
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or refugee/asylee due to export control laws
