Description For Systems Engineer/Dev Ops Engineer, Managed Operations

AWS is launching its first European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a groundbreaking initiative in utility computing. This role within the AWS Managed Operations team is crucial for building and leading operations teams that will deliver high-availability AWS services specifically for EU customers. The position involves working with core AWS services like EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock.

As a Systems Engineer/DevOps Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of launching the ESC in 2025, collaborating with global AWS teams to shape the evolution of AWS services. Your daily responsibilities will include monitoring service health, improving system reliability, and contributing to operational excellence. You'll work on automation, troubleshooting, and system optimization while participating in on-call rotations to maintain 24/7 service availability.

The role combines technical expertise with leadership, requiring you to mentor team members and share knowledge about the European Sovereign Cloud. You'll be working within AWS Utility Computing (UC), which provides foundational services and continues to innovate with new products that distinguish AWS in the industry.

Responsibilities For Systems Engineer/Dev Ops Engineer, Managed Operations

  • Oversee the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) in 2025
  • Work with global AWS teams to influence service and technology evolution
  • Improve availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of ESC
  • Participate in on-call rotations for incident resolution
  • Review operational health of services
  • Identify anomalies and create bug reports
  • Provide feedback on change management documents
  • Develop and test automation scripts
  • Educate service teams about European Sovereign Cloud
