Amazon Robotics is seeking an Interdisciplinary Systems Engineer to join their dynamic Manipulation Robotics group. This role combines cutting-edge robotics innovation with practical applications in Amazon's fulfillment operations. As a Systems Engineer/Architect, you'll be at the forefront of developing robotic material handling products that enhance safety and efficiency across Amazon's Fulfillment Network.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work on products that are deployed at scale, automating material flow to reduce operational costs and increase throughput. You'll be part of a team of engineers and scientists responsible for new product introduction, from early technology exploration to large-scale deployed systems.

Key responsibilities include defining and exploring design spaces for complex robotics problems, analyzing cross-functional tradeoffs, and ensuring products meet safety and reliability standards at Amazon's scale. You'll use your expertise in quantitative modeling and analysis, working with tools like MATLAB and Python to conduct trade studies and understand system drivers.

The role requires strong technical leadership in concept development, architecture, and design of robotics systems. Responsibilities For Systems Engineer/Architect, Amazon Robotics

  • Define and explore design space for multidisciplinary robotics and automation problems
  • Identify and analyze cross-functional tradeoffs between design alternatives
  • Break down and frame problems using con-ops, use cases, and system representations
  • Identify design choices to ensure product safety, reliability, and usability
  • Build quantitative models and analyses using Excel, MATLAB, Python
  • Perform technical risk assessments
  • Develop system integration and evaluation strategies
  • Drive and prioritize execution of system test campaigns

Requirements For Systems Engineer/Architect, Amazon Robotics

Python
  • BS or equivalent experience in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Physics, or another STEM discipline
  • 6+ years of experience
  • Experience with eliciting and clarifying business and end user needs
  • Experience participating in or leading technical collaborations
  • Ability to analyze dependencies, tradeoffs, and sensitivities
