AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Engineering Operations Trainee for a 6-month fixed-term position (with potential conversion to full-time) in Melbourne. This role is fundamental to maintaining AWS's global infrastructure, supporting the rapidly growing AWS business and customers 24/7.
The position offers a unique opportunity to join the team responsible for keeping the cloud running, managing critical infrastructure in AWS Data Centers. You'll work alongside diverse teams including software, hardware, and network engineers, while gaining hands-on experience in data center operations.
Key responsibilities include assisting with facility management, maintaining critical systems (such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, chillers), participating in infrastructure maintenance, and ensuring operational excellence. Responsibilities For Technical Operations Engineer, AWS Data Center Engineering Operations, MEL - DCEO Trainee
- Assist in managing on-site contractors, sub-contractors and vendors
- Maintain performance benchmarks and prepare reports on facility infrastructure operations
- Generate Change Management requests and Incident Management tickets
- Assist with rack installation and power/cooling management
- Participate in routine maintenance of critical systems
- Support facility asset management and inventory
- Interface with Infrastructure Operations teams
- Provide operational readings and key performance indicators
- Perform rack installs, decommissioning, and facility management
