Description For Thermal Design Engineer

AWS Utility Computing (UC) is at the forefront of cloud innovation, providing foundational services like S3 and EC2. Within the AWS Hardware Development team, we're seeking a Thermal Design Engineer to join Annapurna Labs. This role focuses on developing advanced cooling techniques for next-generation cloud platforms. You'll be working with cutting-edge technology, conducting FEA simulations, and designing thermal solutions for AWS products.

The position requires extensive experience in thermal engineering, with opportunities to work on both air and liquid cooling solutions. You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with various vendors and partners to drive innovation in AWS's hardware infrastructure. The role combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, requiring expertise in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.

Responsibilities For Thermal Design Engineer

  • Develop thermal solutions for K2 products, air and liquid cooled
  • Review thermal designs done by partners
  • Design and execute thermal experiments in the lab
  • Debug thermal related failures
  • Lead several research/development projects in parallel

Requirements For Thermal Design Engineer

Linux
  • B.Sc/M.Sc in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
  • At least 10 years experience as Thermal Engineer in electronics industry
  • Exceptional knowledge of heat-transfer and CFD analysis using advanced FEA tools
  • Proven hands-on experience in thermal lab
  • Deep theoretical basis in heat transfer, fluid dynamics and thermodynamics
  • Experience with thermal management of electronics
  • Knowledge of industry standards (PCI, OCP, JEDEC)
