Description For Thermal Mechanical Engineer, AWS HWEng Thermal/Mechanical

AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As a Thermal Mechanical Engineer, you'll join an elite team that keeps the cloud running, supporting AWS data centers and all their critical infrastructure components. You'll work on challenging problems in server hardware design, focusing on thermal and mechanical aspects of complex electronic systems.

The role combines hands-on engineering work using CAD and thermal simulation tools with collaborative problem-solving alongside hardware and software teams. You'll be responsible for designing and validating systems that power AWS's massive cloud infrastructure, conducting failure analysis, and driving operational excellence in thermal and mechanical hardware designs.

Responsibilities For Thermal Mechanical Engineer, AWS HWEng Thermal/Mechanical

  • Perform mechanical and thermal design and development for complex electronic systems
  • Design and validate systems and subsystems to meet program objectives
  • Participate in cross-discipline design process with HW and SW team members
  • Conduct failure analysis and solution validation
  • Support positive team interactions
  • Enable and support project teams for timely delivery
  • Manage interaction with overseas resources
  • Apply technical expertise throughout product life-cycle

Requirements For Thermal Mechanical Engineer, AWS HWEng Thermal/Mechanical

  • 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience with prototyping and implementation
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools (preferred)
  • Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume (preferred)
