Description For Water Infrastructure Engineer, AWS Water Team

AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role within the AWS water infrastructure team focuses on executing critical projects related to water-based cooling system infrastructure for data centers. The position combines engineering expertise with sustainability initiatives, requiring collaboration with multiple teams including real estate, engineering, construction, and operations.

As a Water Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be instrumental in ensuring AWS data centers maintain optimal efficiency through water infrastructure projects. You'll work directly with utilities, vendors, and internal teams to design and implement water treatment systems that meet regulatory standards while maintaining operational excellence. The role requires a strong mechanical or chemistry background, particularly in water-cooled infrastructure systems.

The position offers unique challenges in developing and implementing water infrastructure solutions, especially in rural areas with limited existing infrastructure. You'll be responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously, from initial design through implementation and operational handoff. The role involves up to 20% travel for project execution where authorized.

AWS provides a collaborative environment where you'll work with diverse teams of professionals, including software engineers, hardware specialists, and operations managers. The company culture emphasizes innovation, sustainability, and ownership of projects from conception to completion. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to critical infrastructure that supports AWS's global operations while working on cutting-edge solutions for water sustainability in data center operations.

The role combines technical expertise with project management skills, requiring both detailed engineering knowledge and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders. You'll be part of a team that's essential to AWS's mission of providing reliable, efficient, and sustainable cloud services to customers worldwide. The position offers growth opportunities through exposure to complex infrastructure projects and the chance to work with leading-edge technology in data center operations.
