Description For YYC Regional Safety Engineer, Data Center Health & Safety

Amazon Web Services (AWS), the world's leading cloud platform, is seeking a Regional Safety Engineer for their data center operations in Canada. This role combines technical expertise with safety management, focusing on protecting employees and maintaining AWS's world-class safety culture. The position involves working with cutting-edge cloud infrastructure while ensuring the highest safety standards.

As a Regional Safety Engineer, you'll lead the health and safety function for your assigned area, working directly with data center teams handling electrical equipment, mechanical systems, and critical IT infrastructure. You'll collaborate with multiple departments including security, construction, operations, and compliance to enhance global safety programs.

Your responsibilities will include conducting safety audits, implementing safety standards, developing emergency response plans, and performing data analysis to drive safety improvements. You'll work closely with both employees and contractors to achieve safety objectives and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of field safety experience, strong knowledge of safety regulations, and excellent communication skills. You'll need to be bilingual (English and French) and have experience with safety process implementation. Responsibilities For YYC Regional Safety Engineer, Data Center Health & Safety

  • Lead Health and Safety function for assigned area
  • Implement health and safety standards, policies and practices
  • Conduct health and safety audits of data centers and construction sites
  • Develop health and safety plans for emergencies
  • Perform data trend analysis
  • Partner with Operations to mitigate risks
  • Maintain safety record keeping and data integrity
  • Collaborate with other Amazon groups and outside vendors
  • Ensure compliance with global safety programs

Requirements For YYC Regional Safety Engineer, Data Center Health & Safety

  • Minimum four year college degree in safety and health or related field
  • 5+ years of field safety experience in construction, manufacturing, or similar industry
  • 2+ years experience designing, revising and implementing safety processes
  • 1+ years of Alberta Provincial Occupational Safety Act and Regulation compliance experience
  • Knowledge of Federal safety and health regulatory laws (Canadian Labor Code)
  • Fluent in English and French
