Description For Process Safety Engineer

Americas Styrenics LLC is seeking a Process Safety Engineer for their Torrance polystyrene site. This role is crucial in leading the process safety program and ensuring compliance with PSM requirements and company policies. The position offers an opportunity to serve as a subject matter expert and champion driving a strong process safety culture in the plant.

The ideal candidate will take a lead role in overseeing compliance and managing process safety risk at the site. Key responsibilities include managing the mechanical integrity program, directing risk assessment techniques, leading incident investigations, and providing crucial training to plant personnel. Knowledge of mechanical integrity-related industry codes and standards (ASME, NACE, API) is preferred.

Responsibilities For Process Safety Engineer

  • Lead the Process Safety Program to drive performance improvement and ensure PSM requirements compliance
  • Manage the mechanical integrity program
  • Direct risk assessment techniques including process hazard analyses
  • Lead and participate in plant incident investigations
  • Provide training to plant personnel
  • Coordinate the management of change (MOC) program
  • Ensure timely completion of action items from safety gaps
  • Maintain plant process safety information
  • Compile, analyze, and report mechanical integrity and process safety metrics
  • Participate in the AmSty Process Safety Network
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Serve as the plant's subject matter expert in process safety

Requirements For Process Safety Engineer

  • Engineering degree
