Description For Network Systems Engineer

AnaVation, a leading US-owned company in the Federal Intelligence Community, is seeking a Network Systems Engineer to join their team. This senior role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining large enterprise networks in federal government environments. The position offers a mostly remote work arrangement with occasional travel to Clarksburg, WV.

The ideal candidate will bring 8+ years of experience and must possess a CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure certification. They will be responsible for complex network engineering tasks, including TCP/IP implementation, LAN/WAN management, security administration, and technical leadership. The role requires an active Top Secret clearance and possible polygraph clearance.

Working within an Agile framework using SAFe methodology, the engineer will serve as a senior team member, providing technical expertise and mentorship. The position combines hands-on technical work with strategic planning and team leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities For Network Systems Engineer

  • Serve as senior member of a high performing technical team to deliver customer mission requirements
  • Apply TCP/IP routing and switching principles to practical solutions
  • Perform multi-level troubleshooting and root-cause problem solving
  • Configure, maintain, and upgrade LAN/WAN design and topology
  • Install/configure LAN/WAN hardware and maintain wiring closets
  • Monitor with standard network management and packet analysis tools
  • Manage Cisco and other hardware, including consumer-grade routers and switches
  • Plan, implement, and administer perimeter security and firewalling
  • Evaluate new technologies and make design recommendations
  • Utilize SAFe methodology and principles
  • Mentor team members and ensure quality of technical support

Requirements For Network Systems Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Enterprise Infrastructure certification
  • Two to five years of experience with firewall configuration and load balancing
  • Understanding of common network protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP
  • Expert knowledge of BGP/EIGRP routing protocol
  • Understanding of all aspects of VPN design and configuration
  • Expert knowledge of TCP/IP and troubleshooting connectivity issues
  • Expert level network troubleshooting and root-cause problem solving
  • Experience working in an Agile organization using Scrum, XP, Kanban, and SAFe
  • Active Top Secret clearance with ability to pass polygraph and obtain SCI accesses
