As a Navigation Engineer - AI, you'll be instrumental in advancing autonomous robotics technology. This role combines cutting-edge AI and machine learning with practical robotics applications, focusing on developing sophisticated navigation systems for our ANYmal robots. You'll work on implementing advanced path planning, obstacle avoidance, and decision-making algorithms using reinforcement learning-based approaches.
The position offers an opportunity to work with world-class experts in navigation and perception, directly impacting the state of the art in robotics and industrial inspection. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing robust navigation policies for complex industrial environments, while maintaining and improving our reinforcement learning framework.

The ideal candidate should excel in both Python and C++ programming, with experience in major machine learning frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow. Responsibilities For Navigation Engineer - AI
- Lead the design of novel machine learning algorithms for navigation with reinforcement learning, behavior cloning, and imitation learning
- Develop reliable and robust navigation policies for complex industrial environments
- Improve and maintain navigation software stack, including reinforcement learning framework and tools
- Write high-quality and well documented Python and C++ packages with unit and integration tests
- Participate in planning, organization and tracking of personal and team objectives
- Contribute to shape long-term development roadmap
Requirements For Navigation Engineer - AI
- Engineering or science degree with strong focus on robotics or machine learning
- Excellent at designing, implementing and improving reinforcement learning pipelines for robotics
- Strong at writing C++ & Python for machine learning, using libraries like PyTorch, Tensorflow, torchRL, SBL3
- Strong vision on how to apply recent research advances into industrial use cases
- Strong at coordinating yourself and others, working towards a goal and achieving outcomes
- Capable at training others in the state of the art of machine learning for robotics
- Capable of formulating clear requirements and explaining complex problems to others
- Capable of working effectively in a Linux environment
