Description For Esri ArcGIS Developer

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is seeking a technical GIS developer to join their Enterprise GIS Team within the Office of IT Applications. This role focuses on configuring and developing custom Esri ArcGIS Enterprise applications, working with various technologies including Javascript API, Experience Builder, and ArcGIS Portal/Online/Hub. The position involves working with a team of 2 ArcGIS developers, 2 System Administrators, a data manager, and team leader, supporting over 180 ArcGIS Desktop users and approximately 60,000 annual ArcGIS Server web visits.

The role requires expertise in developing enterprise GIS services, applications, and databases, with integration into .NET applications and various database systems. You'll be working under broad supervision, designing, coding, testing, and maintaining software applications while translating business requirements into development activities.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with a preference for local candidates who can work both remotely and in-office. The team supports critical applications for GIS portal, feature mapping, project planning, emergency operations, permitting, safety, and traffic records. This is an excellent opportunity for a GIS developer looking to make an impact in public sector transportation infrastructure.

The initial contract runs through the fiscal year with anticipated renewal in July 2025. The role offers a structured work environment with fixed 8-hour workdays, 13 holidays, and the potential for long-term engagement through contract renewals. The position includes benefits such as travel expense reimbursement for authorized travel and the flexibility of hybrid work arrangements.

Working at GDOT means being part of a collaborative environment where you'll interact with various IT teams, management, architects, and business units while following internal SDLC standards and best practices. This role offers the chance to work on meaningful projects that directly impact transportation infrastructure and public services in Georgia.
