Senior Test Automation Engineer

Appian is seeking a Senior Test Automation Engineer to join their team in Chennai, India. This role is part of their initiative to build and grow a Test Automation Development function with the mission of reducing manual testing across the entire Appian Platform.

As a Senior Test Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing automated tests, creating system-level regression and smoke tests, and training teams on the use and extension of test frameworks. You'll work on defining, designing, and maintaining test automation infrastructure, collaborating with teams to build automated test frameworks, and automating tests for release quality validation.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and developing automated tests from scratch or enhancing existing manual testing plans
• Developing system-level regression and smoke tests focusing on the system as a whole
• Providing guidance to the quality engineering team on using technologies to solve testing problems
• Working with stakeholders to design strategies for quality verification and test management
• Utilizing both object-oriented and functional programming approaches to implement features effectively
• Managing availability, latency, scalability, and efficiency of the product
• Identifying opportunities for code refactoring and performance optimizations

The ideal candidate should have:

• 2-5 years of experience building and delivering enterprise-grade software applications
• Experience with test automation frameworks like WebDriver, FitNesse, Locust, Jmeter, BrowserStack, Appium, and Selenium
• Proficiency in languages like Java or Python for building custom testing applications
• Knowledge of Linux, bash, and general automation infrastructure
• A BE/B.Tech/BS in Computer Science or related technical discipline
• Strong experience in breakdowns/sizing and design of new feature implementations
• A passion for Agile methodologies and a focus on quality
