Description For Analog Mixed Signal IP Engineer

Apple is seeking an experienced Analog Mixed Signal IP Engineer to join their Hardware team in a highly visible role. The role involves taking ownership of analog IP provided by external vendors and ensuring it meets Apple's high quality standards for seamless integration into products.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for defining IP requirements, managing vendor relationships, and overseeing the entire IP lifecycle from design to integration. They will work closely with cross-functional teams within Apple and external partners, requiring occasional travel. The position demands expertise in analog IC design, with hands-on experience in various analog components such as LDO, ADC, DAC, PLL, and Serdes.

Key responsibilities include driving technical discussions with vendors and foundries, supervising IP design and characterization, and supporting various Apple teams with integration and debugging. The role requires a deep understanding of transistor device characteristics, mixed-signal designs, and industry standards like PCI Express, MIPI, and USB.

Responsibilities For Analog Mixed Signal IP Engineer

  • Define and specify requirements for analog IP provided by external vendors
  • Drive technical discussions with vendors and foundries
  • Supervise IP design, characterization, and debug
  • Review and sign off of IP design/tools/flow/collaterals, test plans, characterization reports
  • Support Apple IP integration teams including front-end design, design verification, physical design, DFT, TE/PE, SIPI
  • Support Apple system teams with product integration, HW/SW bring up, and debug

Requirements For Analog Mixed Signal IP Engineer

  • BSEE/MSEE plus a minimum 7 years of experience in analog IC design
  • Hands-on design expertise in at least 3 areas: LDO, ADC, DAC, PLL, Serdes, bandgap reference, filter design, switched capacitor circuit design
  • Solid understanding of transistor device characteristics in advanced CMOS processes
  • Solid understanding of power, area and performance trade-off in mixed-signal designs
  • Knowledge of analog IC design flow and tools
  • Experience with standards like PCI Express, MIPI, USB or DisplayPort is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong initiative and ownership of responsibilities
