ASE Cassandra Storage – Database Systems Engineering Manager

Apple's Cassandra organization is seeking an experienced engineering manager to lead a new team focused on database systems engineering. This role is central to developing and contributing to Apache Cassandra, an open-source distributed database that powers many of Apple's critical internet services. The position involves working with cutting-edge database technology, distributed systems, and storage engineering at massive scale.

The team's work directly impacts iCloud, Media, and other crucial Apple internet services. As a leader, you'll be responsible for building and managing a team focused on major database components, including traffic load balancing, security authorization, quota management, and tenant isolation. The role requires deep technical expertise in distributed systems and database concepts, combined with strong leadership abilities.

You'll work with modern technologies including Java and Apache Cassandra, while dealing with advanced concepts such as failure detection, smart clients, load balancing, and operational semantics of high-throughput distributed systems. The compensation package includes a competitive base salary range of $190,700 to $329,600, plus additional benefits including stock options, comprehensive healthcare, and education reimbursement.
