Description For ASIC Power Engineer

Apple is seeking an ASIC Power Engineer to join their growing wireless silicon development team. This highly visible role is at the center of low power architecture, power modeling, and correlation efforts, with a critical impact on delivering functional products to hundreds of millions of customers quickly.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining power-efficient SOC architecture and schemes, writing power specifications
  • Estimating pre-silicon power consumption
  • Building wireless application and atomic power models with high accuracy
  • Defining and generating power vectors with Design and DV support
  • Collecting pre-silicon power data using power flow and tools
  • Analyzing and identifying power reduction opportunities
  • Supporting post-silicon power correlation

The ideal candidate should have:

  • BS with 3+ years of experience or an MS degree
  • Strong ASIC power knowledge
  • Experience with power tools like PTPX and Power Artist
  • Understanding of ASIC logic design and low power design principles
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Shell, Perl, or Python)
  • Basic knowledge of common SOC components (CPU, fabric, peripherals, PCIe)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Preferred qualifications include pre-silicon power estimation and modeling experience, actual low power design experience, wireless knowledge (WiFi, BT, UWB), ASIC PD and STA knowledge, system architecture experience, and post-silicon functional debug and power correlation experience.
