At Apple, we're seeking a Core Technologies Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations and Supply Chain team. This role is crucial in developing and qualifying mass production automated equipment for Apple's Camera and Depth Sensing Modules. You'll be at the forefront of innovating precision assembly and measurement processes, directly impacting the design, cost, and quality of new opto-electronics modules.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you'll lead the development of complex automated systems, working with cutting-edge technology in Apple's manufacturing processes. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide technical leadership to suppliers, and drive continuous improvement in equipment performance. Your expertise will be essential in design-for-manufacturing, process development, and assembly tolerance analysis.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience in precision assembly and automation equipment design, with a strong background in manufacturing engineering. You'll need to be comfortable with frequent travel (25%) to supplier and manufacturer locations, and possess excellent communication skills for working in a global environment. Responsibilities For Core Technologies Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

  • Lead development, qualification and scaling of mass production automated equipment
  • Innovate precision assembly and measurement processes
  • Drive continuous improvement in equipment yield, efficiency, and speed
  • Provide direction and mentorship to third party suppliers
  • Organize cross-functional reviews of machine requirements
  • Create RFQ/RFPs for automated equipment
  • Drive machine qualification and failure analysis
  • Perform data analysis and communicate machine capability
  • Work on design for manufacturability
  • Provide production support engineering
  • Develop complex processes to improve quality and efficiency

Requirements For Core Technologies Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

  • 5+ years of experience in precision assembly, inspection and automation equipment design and qualification
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%
  • BSME or equivalent
  • Understanding of tolerance analysis for parts and assemblies
  • Knowledge of machine qualification processes
  • Experience with GD&T principles
  • CAD software experience (NX, SolidWorks, ProE)
  • Knowledge of optics principles
  • Working knowledge of robotics and control systems
