Description For CPU Design Timing Engineer

Apple is seeking a CPU Design Timing Engineer to join their Hardware team in driving innovation in CPU design and timing analysis. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on groundbreaking Apple Hardware products that have historically reinvented entire industries. As a CPU Design Timing Engineer, you'll be responsible for crucial aspects of timing analysis and closure, working closely with implementation and RTL teams.

The position requires collaboration with CAD teams to develop and optimize timing flows, and extensive work with CPU micro-architects and Implementation engineers. You'll be involved in scripting to improve analysis flows and engineer efficiency, while ensuring robust timing closure for CPU projects.

The ideal candidate should possess a strong academic foundation in Static Timing Analysis fundamentals and circuit/logic design. Experience with tools like PrimeTime®/Tempus® and knowledge of physical design tools and methodology would be highly valuable. Skills in TCL, Perl, or Python programming, along with CPU microarchitecture understanding, will be essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities For CPU Design Timing Engineer

  • Work with the CAD team to develop timing flow for projects
  • Develop scripting to improve analysis flows and engineer efficiency
  • Work with CPU micro-architects and Implementation engineers to drive timing closure for the CPU
  • Responsible for all aspects of timing including implementation and RTL teams coordination
  • Perform timing analysis and timing closure
