Description For Custom Silicon Management Engineering Program Manager

At Apple, innovation is at the core of everything we do. We're seeking a Custom Silicon Management Engineering Program Manager to join our Hardware team in Austin. This role combines technical expertise with program management excellence to oversee third-party developed analog/mixed-signal Custom Silicon designs. You'll be instrumental in ensuring our silicon meets technical, quality, and schedule requirements for all Apple hardware products.

The position involves representing Apple globally with custom silicon vendors, managing the complete Silicon development lifecycle from conception through mass production. Your responsibilities will span vendor selection, implementation, validation, and qualification phases. We're looking for someone who can leverage deep technical knowledge and program management skills to drive schedules and resolve complex technical challenges.

You'll work closely with cross-functional teams across Design, Modeling, Embedded Firmware, Verification, Validation, Process Technology, Packaging, Quality, Failure Analysis, System Hardware, and Core Software. Success in this role requires strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SoC Design Flow and analog/digital mixed signal design, combined with proven program management expertise. You'll be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives, leading issue resolution, and maintaining strategic relationships with internal and external leadership.

Responsibilities For Custom Silicon Management Engineering Program Manager

  • Drive Silicon development cycle from initial concept to mass production
  • Represent Apple in front of custom silicon vendors worldwide
  • Drive technical issue resolution with cross-functional teams
  • Lead technical sessions with suppliers
  • Manage bug tracking and program risk communication
  • Travel to vendor sites (approximately 10% of time)
  • Drive Silicon issues to closure with cross-functional teams
  • Focus design teams on meeting commitments and milestones

Requirements For Custom Silicon Management Engineering Program Manager

  • BS + 10 years of relevant experience
  • SoC Design Flow experience
  • Engineering experience with analog, digital, and/or mixed Signal design flow
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • 5+ years of technical Program or Project Management experience preferred
  • Experience with vendor relationships
  • Understanding of hardware and software integration challenges
