Description For Depth Test & Calibration Engineer

As a Depth Test & Calibration Engineer in Apple's Camera Technologies group, you'll be responsible for research, design, development, test, and qualification of camera hardware for Apple products. You'll focus on designing and implementing hardware and software for calibrating and testing imaging components. Key responsibilities include developing new testers/critical optical components, creating software for calibration and testing of imaging systems, analyzing volume data for engineering decisions, and traveling to vendors and partner facilities (10-15% of the time) during new product development. This role requires a deep understanding of camera technology, creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams to craft innovative photography experiences for Apple products.

Responsibilities For Depth Test & Calibration Engineer

  • Develop new testers/critical optical components to meet design requirements for calibration and test
  • Develop and deploy software that calibrates and tests imaging systems
  • Analyze volume data to provide guidance on engineering decisions
  • Travel to vendors and partner facilities during new product development (up to 10-15% of the time)

Requirements For Depth Test & Calibration Engineer

  • BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant experience
  • Experience in image processing or software development
  • Strong understanding of imaging systems, camera technology
  • Programming experience with Matlab / C++ preferred
  • Exceptional Mechanical/HW/SW problem solving and optimization skill
  • Self-motivated professional, good team player with passion
  • Experience in lens characterization methodology and calibration is a plus
  • Experience on camera/depth sensing device/optical device test would be a big plus
