Description For Developer Tools User Experience Designer

The Developer Experience Human Interface Design team at Apple is seeking an experienced User Experience Designer to conceptualize, design, and ship the user experience for Apple developer tools, including Xcode. This role involves creating intuitive and elegant tools that empower engineers to build high-quality apps for Apple's platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive product direction by incorporating expertise and perspectives into a cohesive vision
  • Build partnerships with cross-functional teams, balancing requirements and constraints
  • Utilize user research techniques to gain insights and steer product strategy
  • Create design mockups, prototypes, and specifications using tools like Sketch
  • Apply, adapt, or develop design patterns to solve new challenges
  • Maintain high attention to detail, ensuring pixel-perfect designs
  • Advocate for user needs, accessibility, and standardization of design patterns
  • Present and pitch ideas to other designers, teams, and leadership
  • Interpret and incorporate feedback, refining designs as needed
  • Adapt to changing scope, requirements, and limitations throughout development

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of industry experience as a UX designer, Human Computer Interaction designer, or related role
  • Comfort working within a highly technical domain
  • Ability to drive clarity in product vision, uniting technical requirements with user focus
  • Thrives in an iterative design and feedback process
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating design thinking, hands-on expertise, and problem-solving skills

The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $264,200, with additional opportunities for bonuses, commission payments, and relocation assistance.
