Description For DFM PCBA Engineer

Apple is seeking a seasoned DFM PCBA Engineer to join their Operations and Supply Chain team in Cupertino. This role represents a unique opportunity to work at the heart of Apple's manufacturing processes, where you'll be responsible for ensuring the quality and efficiency of PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) manufacturing across Apple's product line.

The position requires a deep understanding of PCBA manufacturing processes and quality control, with responsibilities spanning from prototype development to high-volume manufacturing oversight. You'll be working with cutting-edge technology and some of the world's most challenging consumer PCBA and Flex designs, contributing directly to the creation of Apple's revolutionary products.

As a DFM PCBA Engineer, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams including Component Engineering and ECAD Librarians, developing and maintaining crucial procedures, standards, and specifications. Your work will directly impact the quality and manufacturability of Apple's products, from initial concept through to high-volume production.

Responsibilities For DFM PCBA Engineer

  • Verify Quick Turn PCBA Vendor Technical Capabilities
  • Develop and maintain PCBA DFM Procedures and Checklists
  • Develop Array Drawings for Product PCBAs
  • Manage PCBA Prototype, EVT, and DVT Assembly and Test
  • Develop and maintain PCBA Process Parameters
  • Ensure proper use of approved materials
  • Develop and maintain PCBA Assembly Workmanship Standards
  • Support Component Engineering and ECAD Librarians
  • Manage PCBA PVT Assembly and Test
  • Verify Volume PCB Vendor Technical and Quality Capabilities
  • Develop necessary tooling and automation equipment
  • Develop and maintain Cable assembly processes

Requirements For DFM PCBA Engineer

  • 7 or more years of research or process development experience in an applicable field
  • A degree in engineering disciplines (mechanical, industrial, chemical, electrical or materials science)
  • Familiarity with microelectronics fabrication and PCBA assembly
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to self-manage and deliver results
  • Willingness to travel frequently (>25%)
