Apple is seeking a Director of Semiconductor Engineering and Fabrication to lead their semiconductor manufacturing operations. This senior leadership role is crucial for ensuring the creation and supply of high-performance semiconductor components for Apple's product portfolio. The position requires deep technical expertise in optics, materials science, and electronics, with a focus on III-V semiconductors.

The role involves managing fab operations, maintaining safety standards, reaching productivity goals, and overseeing equipment capabilities. The role offers competitive compensation including base pay between $284,900 and $455,200, plus additional benefits such as stock options and comprehensive healthcare.

Responsibilities For Director of Semiconductor Engineering and Fabrication

  • Developing III-V semiconductor devices and manufacturing process flows
  • Identifying and overseeing relationships with external vendor partners
  • Managing external vendors for technology transfer and process bringup
  • Leading technical reviews internally and with vendors
  • Maintaining quality standards in the fab
  • Assembling and managing task forces for critical issues
  • Producing assessments of manufacturing maturity and risks
  • Mentoring and fostering a large team
  • Reporting to Steering Boards and Executive leadership
  • Maintaining effective collaboration with cross-functional teams

Requirements For Director of Semiconductor Engineering and Fabrication

  • 10+ years experience in semiconductor process engineering, semiconductor product development and mass production
  • Experience with modern high volume semiconductor fabrication processes
  • Significant experience in III-V semiconductors
  • Expertise in problem solving methods and root cause analysis
  • Expertise in consumer electronics quality requirements
  • Experience in leading large cross-functional teams
  • Record of owning and driving complex projects
  • Familiar with ISO standards and systems, FMEA, Phase Gate approach
  • Experience in vendor transfer management or wafer foundry management
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong skills in collaboration, organization, and communication
  • BS degree
