Apple's Sensor Technology Team is seeking a Force Hardware - Sensor Design & Integration Engineer to join their multi-disciplinary team developing state-of-the-art sensing solutions for products like iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and AirPods. This role offers the opportunity to participate in development from proof-of-concept to end-product launch.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading sensing solution development from conception through product release
  • Designing and building prototype sensing solutions
  • Analyzing design trade-offs and providing recommendations
  • Designing schematics and PCB/FPC layout constraints
  • Defining calibration, test, and reliability requirements
  • Developing test and characterization software
  • Analyzing engineering build data and performing failure mode analysis
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing external partners

Responsibilities For Force Hardware - Sensor Design & Integration Engineer

  • Lead development of sensing solutions from conception through product release
  • Propose, design, build, and measure prototype sensing solutions
  • Analyze design trade-offs and provide final design recommendations
  • Design schematics and provide layout constraints for PCBs/FPCs
  • Define calibration, test, and reliability requirements across the sensing-system supply chain
  • Develop test and characterization software and scripts for verification
  • Analyze engineering build data and assess process capability
  • Perform failure mode analysis, root-cause diagnosis, and technical problem-solving
  • Characterize, test, and verify sensing solutions
  • Author clear and comprehensive hardware specifications and engineering build documentation
  • Engage and collaborate with internal cross-functional teams
  • Manage external partners and suppliers, providing engineering guidance
  • Author executive communications pertaining to key development checkpoints
  • Travel internationally to support product development

Requirements For Force Hardware - Sensor Design & Integration Engineer

Python
  • BS degree
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
  • Strong background in board-level analog and mixed-signal circuits and/or embedded systems
  • Hands-on experience in module-level design
  • Proficiency in simulation tools (e.g., COMSOL/SPICE)
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python/MATLAB)
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., JMP)
  • Ability to independently drive technical issues to resolution
  • Excellent critical analysis, statistical analysis, and logic/reasoning skills
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
  • Direct experience with sensor design and integration
  • Willingness to travel internationally to support product development
