Apple is seeking a GPU Energy Modeling and Analysis Engineer to join their Silicon Technologies group. This role involves creating elegant solutions to complex challenges in designing and manufacturing next-generation, high-performance, power-efficient processors and system-on-chip (SoC) technologies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing micro-architectural level energy models for early power estimation, what-if analysis, performance per watt tradeoff analysis, and power targets.
- Analyzing and providing insight into power consumption throughout the GPU and identifying opportunities to reduce energy.
- Driving power reduction techniques across the entire stack, collaborating with various teams to understand and reduce power consumption of high-value workloads.
- Developing tools to aid in the measurement, visualization, and analysis of GPU energy and opportunities to reduce power.
- Conducting directed studies to prototype solutions for improving the architecture/micro-architecture of next-generation GPUs to reduce power.
The ideal candidate should have:
- Strong computer architecture knowledge
- Experience in investigating energy reduction ideas across the HW/SW stack
- Skills in data mining and analyzing energy consumption trends
- Knowledge of low power ASIC design
- Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages
Preferred qualifications include experience with Tableau and/or Splunk, ability to work well in a team, productivity under aggressive schedules, excellent communication skills, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills.
