Description For Haptic Hardware Technology Development Engineer

We are seeking a Multi-Disciplinary Engineer, such as Mechatronics, electromechanical, or physics, with a strong background in mechanical and electromagnetic design to develop future generations of haptic technology and actuators. The Haptic Engineering team is a highly multi-disciplinary team developing innovative haptic solutions that are central to Apple's products, such as the iPhone, Apple Watch, and Apple Pencil.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Generate concepts and solutions to multi-disciplinary haptic related challenges
  • Perform mechanical, magnetic, and electro-mechanical modeling
  • Prototype, evaluate, and debug innovative ideas
  • Design and define mechanical components and assembly schemes
  • Define detailed specifications and engineering requirements
  • Participate in new manufacturing and assembly processes development
  • Validate and characterize designs through multiple iterations
  • Conduct failure analysis and design of experiments (DOEs)
  • Generate new intellectual property
  • Collaborate with design studio and system engineering groups
  • Design for manufacturability with cross-functional teams
  • Communicate multi-functionally and throughout management structure
  • Manage and track multiple priorities within schedule requirements
  • Lead design reviews and design documentation releases

Requirements For Haptic Hardware Technology Development Engineer

Python
  • Strong fundamental in mechanics
  • Experience with magnetic or motor design
  • Applied knowledge of electrical circuits, instrumentation, control, and basic programming
  • Experience using FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to guide design process
  • Experience with 3D CAD, 2D drafting, GD&T, and tolerance analysis
  • Team oriented with excellent written and verbal communication and leadership skills
  • BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
