Description For Hardware Design Engineer

Join Apple's Instrumentation Design Team in the Hardware Test Engineering Group as a Hardware Design Engineer. This role focuses on designing and enabling performant test solutions to ensure the highest quality of Apple products through innovation. As a key technical contributor, you'll lead the design of mission-critical test instruments for next-generation products.

The position requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong understanding of hardware design fundamentals, has solid background working with systems, excellent interpersonal skills, and desires to work with cross-functional teams to develop ground-breaking instrumentation solutions.

You'll be part of a team that values curiosity, engineering excellence, data-informed decision making, and creativity. The role involves designing, prototyping, building, and validating instrumentation for high volume manufacturing test throughout all NPI phases until mass production. You'll collaborate with system EE, SI, software diagnostics, and mechanical teams to define, implement and validate test instruments for Apple products.

Key responsibilities include proposing and designing EE solutions, working with digital and analog electrical circuits, leading PCB layouts, and ensuring successful factory integration. The ideal candidate should have strong EE fundamentals, experience with various communication protocols, and expertise in hardware design tools.

Responsibilities For Hardware Design Engineer

  • Design, prototype, build, and validate instrumentation for high volume manufacturing test
  • Propose, negotiate, and design EE solutions to achieve functional and performance objectives
  • Design and schematic capture of digital and analog electrical circuits and systems
  • Lead and review PCB layouts
  • Bring up and validate the instrumentation designs
  • Collaborate with deployment teams to analyze and debug issues during factory integration

Requirements For Hardware Design Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • 5+ years experience designing hardware for high volume manufacturing instruments
  • Solid EE fundamentals, knowledge of common communication bus protocols(I2C, SPI, UART)
  • Knowledge of high speed circuit design
  • Working level knowledge of embedded C
  • Solid understanding in signal/power integrity concepts and best practices
  • Experience with schematic capture and constraint-driven PCB layout design using Cadence tools
  • Hands-on hardware bringup, functional validation, and debugging experience
