Apple is seeking a Hardware Reliability Engineer for Mac System Reliability to join their team in Austin, Texas. This role is crucial in ensuring Apple's products meet the highest standards of durability and reliability.
As a System Reliability Engineer, you will:
- Identify high-risk failure modes early in the design process
- Work closely with design engineering teams to reduce risks
- Create new reliability tests based on physics of failure and anticipated user behavior
- Develop and deliver critical test equipment and specifications
- Collaborate with vendors to meet testing deadlines
- Support failure analysis efforts
- Offer design recommendations based on test data evaluation
Key qualifications include:
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field (mechanical engineering, materials engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or related fields)
- Deep understanding of material and device properties (mechanical, electrical, optical, thermal) and underlying physics
- Proficiency in statistical data analysis and clear reporting
- Strong theoretical knowledge in physical failure analysis techniques
- Ability to develop new reliability test procedures and analyze results
Preferred qualifications:
- 2-8 years of experience in an engineering role
- M.S. or PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- Statistical experience (Weibull, JMP, accelerated test models)
- Familiarity with Failure Analysis techniques
- Ability to travel internationally without restriction
