Description For Hardware Systems Engineer - Board Design

Join Apple's Silicon Technologies group as a Hardware Systems Engineer focusing on board design. You'll be instrumental in designing and manufacturing next-generation, high-performance, power-efficient processors and system-on-chip (SoC) solutions. As a member of the Silicon Validation Hardware team, you'll work on cutting-edge board designs that push technological boundaries, implement test and characterization circuits, and tackle complex system-level challenges.

Your role will involve collaborating closely with various teams within Apple, making you a key contributor to silicon engineering efforts. You'll be responsible for developing specifications, performing schematic capture, circuit design, and handling layout constraints. Your expertise will be crucial in FPGA development, board testing, and power/signal integrity analysis.

Responsibilities For Hardware Systems Engineer - Board Design

  • Developing specifications based on requirements from cross-functional teams
  • Schematic capture, circuit design, definition of layout and routing constraints
  • FPGA and CPLD development
  • Board bring-up, testing and characterization, and debug
  • Power and signal integrity analysis
  • High-speed interface design and characterization
  • Debug issues on test boards and production systems

Requirements For Hardware Systems Engineer - Board Design

Python
  • Experience designing complex high-speed embedded systems with demonstrated record of success
  • BS in Electrical, Computer or related degree program with at least 10 years of experience
  • Broad experience with high-speed, high-power embedded system design
  • Experience defining routing constraints for high-speed interfaces
  • Design and analysis of power supplies and power integrity analysis
  • CPU/SOC/Microcontroller system architecture expertise
  • Proficiency with standard hardware lab equipment
  • Test automation expertise using Perl/Tcl/Python
  • Board level analog and digital circuit design experience
