The iPhone Touch Sensing Technology team at Apple is seeking an iPhone Touch Sensing Architect to play a key role in enabling the world's best User Experiences through innovative sensing solutions. This team is responsible for crafting, developing, and delivering high-precision, low-latency MultiTouch solutions that are the gold standard in the smartphone/mobile industries.
As a Touch Sensing Architect, you will be integral in conceiving, modeling, prototyping, and integrating new sensor solutions for the iPhone. The role involves tackling new challenges daily that require innovation across several technical areas, including Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics, and Algorithms.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing key figures of merit critical to performance and authoring requirement specifications
- Creating end-to-end models capturing sensor, circuits, DSP, and algorithms to predict key figures of merit and inform technical decisions
- Developing tools, scripts, and infrastructure to enable scalable modeling
- Sensor design, ASIC application design, system-level integration and bring-up
- Analyzing and reconciling build data with model predictions
- Performing failure analysis, identifying root causes, and proposing corrective actions
- Providing clear technical updates to the broader team and leadership

Qualifications:
- Deep understanding of physics, analog circuits, and linear algebra
- Experience in modeling, building, and testing sophisticated, multi-physics systems
- Proficiency in MATLAB, SPICE, COMSOL, or similar packages
- Hands-on experience in system-level design, architecture, characterization, and validation
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity, independently converge technical issues, and align efforts across teams
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
- BS degree and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience with high-volume mass production
