Description For iPhone Touch Sensing Architect

The iPhone Touch Sensing Technology team at Apple is seeking a Touch Sensing Architect to play a key role in the architecture, integration, and launch of next-generation touch sensing technologies. This position is part of the Hardware team and is located in San Diego, California.

As a Touch Sensing Architect, you will be responsible for enabling the world's best User Experiences through innovative sensing solutions. Your role will involve crafting, developing, and delivering high-precision, low-latency MultiTouch solutions that are the gold standard in the smartphone/mobile industries.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing key figures of merit critical to performance and authoring requirement specifications
  • Creating end-to-end models capturing sensor, circuits, DSP, and algorithms to predict key figures of merit and inform technical decisions
  • Developing tools, scripts, and infrastructure to enable scalable modeling
  • Sensor design, ASIC application design, system-level integration and bring-up
  • Analyzing and reconciling build data with model predictions
  • Performing failure analysis, identifying root causes, and proposing corrective actions
  • Providing clear technical updates to the broader team and leadership

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of physics, analog circuits, and linear algebra, as well as experience in modeling, building, and testing sophisticated, multi-physics systems. Proficiency in MATLAB, SPICE, COMSOL, or similar packages is required, along with hands-on experience in system-level design, architecture, characterization, and validation.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative and hands-on environment that cultivates engineering excellence and creativity. You'll be part of a team that tackles new challenges daily, requiring innovation across several technical areas, including EE, Math, Physics, and Algorithms.

Apple offers a competitive compensation package, including base pay, potential stock awards, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for growth and development within the company.

Join Apple in delivering cutting-edge technology from proof-of-concept through ultra-high-volume production, and be part of shaping the future of touch sensing technology in iPhones.
