ISE, Incubation - Sr. Machine Learning Engineer

The Intelligent System Experience Special Projects team at Apple explores and prototypes new, novel, and paradigm shifting ideas in system experience, with emphasis on motivating future technologies in computer vision, machine learning, natural language processing, input, sense, and system intelligence.

This role is for a Sr. Machine Learning Engineer in the ISE, Incubation team. You will be part of a new and growing team, with the opportunity to have impact across Apple's entire portfolio. The team is looking for collaborative individuals who are motivated and inspired by the potential to help shape the future of system experiences across the entire Apple ecosystem.

As a Sr. Machine Learning Engineer, you will be involved in all stages of incubation including ideation, development, and experimentation. Your work will include designing high-performance machine learning models to enable new system experiences, working in concert with designers, software/hardware engineers, and applied R&D teams.

Key responsibilities:

• Create intelligent and natural system experiences
• Design and develop high-performance machine learning models
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers and engineers
• Participate in ideation, development, and experimentation of new technologies
• Contribute to shaping the future of system experiences across Apple's ecosystem

Required qualifications:

• Masters or PhD in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Computer Science or related field
• 4+ years of experience
• Experience delivering consumer-facing solutions to new industry problems at scale
• Proficiency in C, C++ or Python
• Excellent communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

• Strong and proven research and software development skills
• Deep understanding of machine learning concepts
• Experience with and knowledge of a wide variety of machine learning libraries/packages
• Creative, collaborative, and product-focused approach
