Description For Mac MLB Reliability Engineer

Apple's Mac Reliability Engineering team is seeking a Mac MLB Reliability Engineer to ensure their products exceed customer expectations for robustness, durability, and reliability. This role involves collaborating with hardware development and Silicon packaging teams, leading board level reliability on new Mac portables, developing new test procedures, and conducting failure analysis.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing detailed test plans and reports
  • Performing statistical data analysis for design risk assessments
  • Researching technologies to determine possible failure modes
  • Meeting deadlines through task prioritization
  • Providing design input to improve product reliability
  • Communicating results across various teams

The ideal candidate will have experience in board level reliability testing, failure analysis methodology, and knowledge of board level design and DFM best practices. They should also be familiar with semiconductor package integration, SLI reliability, and FMEA application.

Responsibilities For Mac MLB Reliability Engineer

  • Preparing concise and detailed test plans and test reports
  • Statistical data analysis to provide risk assessments of a design
  • Researching a technology to determine possible failure modes
  • Prioritizing and completing tasks to meet deadlines
  • Providing design input to improve product reliability when necessary
  • Interacting with a wide variety of individuals and teams to communicate results

Requirements For Mac MLB Reliability Engineer

  • Experience performing board level reliability testing including Mechanical Stress Tests, Shock/Drop/Vibration Testing, Environmental Testing
  • Ability to use fundamental failure analysis methodology to derive root cause of failures
  • Knowledge of board level design, DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and reliability best practices
  • Knowledge of Semiconductor package integration, SLI (Second Level Interconnect) reliability, passive components reliability, bonding materials and warpage control
  • Application of FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)
  • MS in Materials Science, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field desired
  • 3-5+ years relevant engineering experience
  • Ability to travel internationally without restrictions
