Description For Data Center Systems Power Architect

Apple's Datacenter Systems Architecture team is seeking an exceptional computer systems architect to drive innovation in system power architecture and power management. This role represents a sophisticated engineering position that spans all aspects of computer system design. The ideal candidate will create cutting-edge system power architectures that enhance product performance, optimize size and power efficiency, and manage thermal requirements while maintaining cost-effectiveness.

The position offers an opportunity to work with cross-functional teams, providing architectural leadership in establishing new product definitions. You'll be responsible for power delivery architecture guidance for Datacenter applications, leveraging your expertise in power electronics and voltage regulators. The role involves collaboration with mechanical, physical, thermal, and electrical engineering teams to determine product feasibility and drive improvements.

As a Principal Engineer, you'll lead system architecture initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and drive innovation in datacenter workloads and applications. The position requires strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to create and review engineering specifications. Responsibilities For Data Center Systems Power Architect

  • Provide architectural guidance for system power architecture in Datacenter applications
  • Lead system architecture and guide early design team activities
  • Establish and drive workload power budgets at system and module levels
  • Perform and guide peak power measurements on system hardware
  • Determine product system integration feasibility
  • Collaborate with performance architects to define, model and drive improvements
  • Author system architecture specifications and block diagrams
  • Analyze and support thermal management solutions
  • Mentor junior engineers
  • Define, develop and utilize tools, scripts, automation and methods of system analysis

Requirements For Data Center Systems Power Architect

Linux
  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with at least 10 years of relevant industry experience
  • Core competence and subject matter expertise in power electronics for server system designs
  • Strong technical breadth across computer subsystem technologies (CPU, GPU, TPU, storage, memory, power delivery, etc.)
  • Ability to create, review and approve engineering requirement specification documents
  • Capability in modeling and characterizing power
