Machine Learning Research Engineer — Computer Vision/Computational Photography

In the Camera Algorithms team at Apple, we are seeking passionate, self-driven computer vision/computational photography research engineers to innovate and collaborate on exciting new imaging technology for Apple products. The role involves researching and developing novel machine learning techniques for image restoration and fusion applications, contributing to the most popular camera in the world.

As a machine learning research engineer, you will:

• Contribute to algorithm design and implementation
• Develop and train deep learning models
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (camera hardware, firmware, GPU, and image quality)
• Leverage knowledge of classical computer vision and computational photography techniques
• Design the next generation Apple camera imaging pipeline

We're looking for an innovative and inquisitive engineer who can apply their expertise to build cutting-edge deep learning models for computational photography and computer vision problems.

Key Qualifications:

• Strong coding skills in Python; C/C++ experience is a plus
• Proven ability in developing ML algorithms for computational photography/computer vision
• Extensive knowledge of camera processing pipelines and classical techniques
• Experience with deep learning for image restoration and fusion applications
• Familiarity with frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow

Preferred Qualifications:

• MS/PhD in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related fields
• Excellent communication skills
• Creativity and curiosity for solving complex problems
