Apple is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, development and validation of silicon validation test fixtures and provide fixture-design support to other Apple engineering teams. This role involves end-to-end mechanical development of test fixtures for silicon validation, including defining requirements, brainstorming ideas, generating innovative designs, performing analyses, leading multiple priorities, prototype bring-up, and design validation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on product design experience in electronic products or modules, with direct fixture design experience highly preferred. Knowledge in signal integrity, printed circuit boards, material science, and basic chemistry is beneficial. Experience with design and analysis tools like Solidworks, Creo, Ansys, and Icepack is a plus. The role requires deep understanding of mechanical fabrication processes, GD&T practices, and the ability to perform tolerance analysis of complex assemblies. Experience in designing heat sinks and understanding electronics cooling for high power ASIC is essential. The candidate must be able to interact effectively with management, team members, and external vendors.
