The Opaque Touch and Sensing team at Apple develops cutting-edge Touch solutions and technologies central to Apple's products, including MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, AirPods Pro, Apple Pencil, HomePod, Apple TV Siri Remote, Magic Mouse, and Magic TrackPad. As a Modeling & Simulation Engineer, you'll be part of a team developing innovative concepts for products used by millions of people. The role involves electrostatics and multiphysics modeling, sensor design, and system-level performance analysis.
Key responsibilities include:
- Driving new sensor technology development
- Conducting feasibility analysis, material stack up, and sensor element design
- Modeling & simulating sensor designs to determine response to user interaction
- Developing analytical models for predicting sensor performance, accounting for manufacturing and environmental variations
- Circuit modeling, statistical analysis, and design with consideration for system integration
- Performing tolerance and sensitivity analysis
- Analyzing and verifying designs, including correlation of bench testing to simulation models
- Working with a cross-functional team of electrical engineers, mechanical designers, and material scientists
- Conducting rigorous design reviews with internal teams and vendors
