Description For Modeling and Simulation Engineer

Join Apple's Display Technologies group as a Modeling and Simulation Engineer, where you'll be at the forefront of developing innovative displays for iconic products like Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, and Mac. As part of the PPOM FEA team, you'll lead crucial structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis of touch sensors and flat panel displays.

Your role will involve generating and implementing FEA/analytical models for mechanical components, driving material characterization, and optimizing designs from concept to mass production. You'll work with cutting-edge technology, performing complex simulations using advanced tools like Abaqus and ANSYS to solve challenging engineering problems.

Responsibilities For Modeling and Simulation Engineer

  • Generate FEA/analytical models of mechanical parts, modules, and assemblies
  • Own and drive material characterization and testing plan
  • Implement consistent methods of modeling and analysis across programs
  • Coordinate with other analysts to integrate module models
  • Communicate and report analysis results to team and management
  • Drive failure analysis and root cause efforts
  • Generate engineering specifications and build processes
  • Perform structural, thermal and dynamic analysis of touch sensor and flat panel display

Requirements For Modeling and Simulation Engineer

Linux
  • MS or PhD in mechanical engineering, material science, mechanics of materials
  • Solid fundamentals in mechanics of materials
  • Proficient in FEA software Abaqus (Implicit & Explicit) or ANSYS
  • Experience in static, dynamic, and thermal-mechanical simulations
  • Knowledge and practical experience in material constitutive models
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative mind-set
  • Ability to adapt to multi-functional environment
