Apple is seeking a Principal Modem Firmware Engineer to join their Hardware team in San Diego. This role represents a unique opportunity to shape the future of Apple Silicon through the development of best-in-class multi-modem cellular modems. The position requires extensive experience in RTL design principles and physical design implementation, working at the intersection of hardware and firmware development.

The role involves close collaboration with multiple teams including architecture, design, implementation, power, and physical design teams. You'll be responsible for critical aspects of IP development including synthesis, power analysis, and optimization. The position requires expertise in developing advanced techniques to meet challenging timing, power, and area targets while working alongside partners in process technology, custom memory, STA, and DFT teams.

  • Work with architecture, design, implementation, power and physical design teams
  • Responsible for synthesis, power analysis, and optimization of delivered IP
  • Develop advanced techniques to meet timing, power and area targets

  • Experience with partition level implementation
  • Experience with Physical Design and Timing Analysis
  • Experience analyzing architectural critical paths
  • Experience debugging complex logic equivalence issues
  • Experience developing innovative methodologies
  • Experience implementing ECOs for functionality and timing
  • Experience with structured placement, memory optimization, reset domain, multi-clock domain
  • Scripting experience in ASIC flows – Python, TCL, Perl
