Description For Noise & Vibration Engineer | BSR

At Apple, we're seeking a Noise & Vibration Engineer specializing in buzz, squeak, and rattle (BSR) for our Acoustics team. You'll work on minimizing distracting audible noises and optimizing sound quality in our products. As a BSR Engineer, you'll quantify noises, evaluate acoustic performance, facilitate user studies, and establish thresholds in lab and factory environments. You'll collaborate with multi-functional teams to identify and fix noises, provide design feedback, and author procedures, test plans, and specifications. You'll also develop and facilitate the use of objective test stations. This role involves potential domestic and international travel (up to 10%) to support product development builds at factories.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Quantifying noises and evaluating acoustic performance
  • Collaborating with teams to identify and fix noise issues
  • Providing design feedback to improve product acoustics
  • Developing test procedures, plans, and specifications
  • Working with objective test stations
  • Analyzing validation work to understand root causes of problems

We're looking for a creative problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. While most of our engineers have advanced degrees in Acoustics or equivalent fields, we're open to candidates who have gained expertise in acoustics, vibration, noise control, or sound quality through different paths.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of acoustic and vibration principles
  • Experience with acoustic and vibration measurements
  • Ability to quantify noise response relationships
  • Excellent hearing and listening skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with statistical analysis, precision-grade instrumentation, and data analysis software (e.g., Matlab)

At Apple, you'll be part of a team that directly impacts the design of products loved by millions worldwide. You'll have the opportunity to work on innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges and contribute to the exceptional sound quality of Apple products.

Apple offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, stock programs, and educational reimbursement opportunities. The base pay range for this role is between $128,300 and $193,200, with additional opportunities for bonuses, commission payments, and relocation assistance.
