Description For Optical Sensing PD - Mechanical Engineer

The Optical Sensing Product Design team at Apple is seeking a mechanical engineer to develop sensors that revolutionize how people interact with technology. This role involves leading the end-to-end design, development, and validation of spectral sensing technology for Apple's product portfolio. As a mechanical specialist, you'll work with a talented multifunctional team to design optical modules and packaging, ensure system integration requirements are met, and collaborate with manufacturing partners.

The position requires expertise in miniature component and opto-mechanical module design, proficiency in 3D CAD design (preferably NX), and statistical tools. You'll be responsible for identifying design tradeoffs, applying experimental design principles, and supporting external manufacturing vendors, including international travel (10-25%).
