Description For Physical Design Methodology CAD Engineer

Join Apple's Hardware Technology CAD team to work on next-generation, high-performance, power-efficient SoCs. As a Physical Design Methodology CAD Engineer, you'll be part of the Silicon Technologies group, developing flows, tools, and methodologies for future Apple products. You'll work on world-class CPU, GPU, Analog/Mixed Signal, and SOC designs, exploring and enabling new technology nodes, stdcells, and tools. The role involves collaborating with design teams and tool vendors to improve Power, Performance, and Area (PPA) and design productivity. You'll develop internal methodologies using CAD algorithms and ML, impacting a wide range of chips used across Apple's world-class products. Responsibilities For Physical Design Methodology CAD Engineer

  • Participate and lead cross functional teams to solve key physical design challenges
  • Develop innovative solutions in physical design and optimization space
  • Develop and support implementation flows for multiple projects and design teams
  • Develop and maintain custom CAD tools for implementation and signoff
  • Create flows to enable successful deployment of new technology nodes
  • Develop tools and methodologies for best-in-class PPA and productivity including ML based solutions
  • Collaborate with other disciplines such as physical design verification, RC extraction, IR and static timing analysis
  • Drive EDA tool vendor interactions to resolve tool issues and identify areas for tool improvements

Requirements For Physical Design Methodology CAD Engineer

Python
  • BS + 10 years of relevant industry experience
  • Proficiency with Tcl, Python or Perl scripting languages
  • Experience in CAD flow or PD methodology development
  • Ability to coordinate and drive initiatives with little to no oversight
  • Hands on knowledge of industry standard PNR tools
  • Expertise in analysis aspects of Physical Design
  • Hands on experience with high performance and low power implementation flows
