Platform Engineer - Security

As a Platform Engineer - Security, you will:

• Identify and define platform level security requirements for new products
• Define and maintain device-level security policies across multiple environments for existing products
• Drive adoption of platform level security architectures incorporating hardware, software, and server elements
• Lead cross-functional teams throughout the product development cycle
• Collaborate with security architects and researchers across Apple
• Develop threat models and associated security architectures
• Design balanced and novel mitigations in creative collaboration with product and engineering teams
• Develop detailed system-level specifications
• Drive security requirements and architecture into custom silicon designed through external vendors
• Identify emerging threats, new attacks, and mitigation techniques

Requirements:

• BS + 10 years of relevant industry experience
• Knowledge of basic cryptographic principles
• Experience in threat modeling system designs spanning software, hardware, and system designs

Preferred Qualifications:

• MS or PhD + 5 years of relevant industry experience
• Strong communication skills, especially in explaining technical details to non-technical audiences
• Programming and/or auditing experience with Python, C, and Unix shell scripting
• Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., WiFi, BT, UWB)
• Ability to review system design and schematics
• Cross-functional experience with Privacy, Safety, Service, Manufacturing, Software, and Product teams
• Critical analysis skills for evaluating security properties and policies
• Experience in leading cross-functional initiatives

Apple offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, stock options, and educational reimbursement opportunities. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $264,200, with additional opportunities for bonuses, commission payments, and relocation assistance.
