Description For Pre-Silicon GPU Driver Engineer

Apple's GGML team is seeking a Pre-Silicon GPU Driver Engineer to join their innovative GPU development efforts across all Apple products. This role is part of the team that delivered the groundbreaking Apple M1 processor and focuses on developing PreSilicon GPU drivers for future Apple Silicon GPUs. The position involves working with cutting-edge graphics technology, GPU-accelerated machine learning, and hardware-software integration.

As a key member of the Pre-Silicon GPU Driver Team, you'll be responsible for the development and support of GPU drivers for iOS and macOS platforms, while also assisting in silicon bring-up of new Apple SoCs. The role spans the entire product lifecycle, from initial specification of new GPU features to supporting and validating these features in production environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong engineering background with expertise in GPU driver development, embedded systems, and low-level programming. You'll work closely with various teams including hardware design, verification, and software organizations to ensure seamless integration of new GPU features and optimal performance across Apple's device ecosystem.

Responsibilities For Pre-Silicon GPU Driver Engineer

  • Driver development and support for existing graphics APIs and new GPU features on new GPU architectures
  • Pre and post-silicon bring-up of new chips/products using new GPUs
  • Implementation and debugging of graphics and compute applications
  • Design and development of driver capture and analysis tools
  • Collaborate with hardware design, verification, performance and architecture teams
  • Work with build and test automation teams

Requirements For Pre-Silicon GPU Driver Engineer

  • Technical BS/MS degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent software design, problem solving, debugging, and performance analysis ability
  • Adaptive approach to problem solving
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of computer architecture
  • Good programming skills with knowledge of C or C++
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
