Description For Product Design Engineer - Battery

The Battery Pack Product Design team at Apple is seeking a Product Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design and integration of battery packs into Apple products. This role is crucial in pushing the boundaries of battery technology, delivering more energy in smaller spaces than ever before. As part of the Battery Engineering group, you'll work across multiple product development teams to transform hardware elements into integrated designs that continually outperform previous iterations. The position involves end-to-end mechanical development, from initial system architecture through production ramp.

The ideal candidate will apply advanced mechanical design engineering skills to optimize battery pack design across various product development groups. Key responsibilities include NPI through mass production design, creative problem-solving, engineering analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. You'll be involved in detailed design reviews, failure analyses, and design of experiments to develop innovative solutions.

Responsibilities For Product Design Engineer - Battery

  • Design for stages from NPI through mass production
  • Utilize creative problem solving to overcome technical challenges
  • Apply engineering fundamentals to design analysis
  • Realize designs through tolerance analysis and design for assembly/manufacturing
  • Communicate designs through detailed, cross functional design reviews
  • Drive failure analyses and design of experiments (DOEs)
  • Release drawings and maintain documentation through revision control
  • Travel up to 20% throughout the year

Requirements For Product Design Engineer - Battery

  • BS degree
  • Design and 3D CAD experience
  • Experience with multiple part assemblies including tolerance analysis, DOE's, failure analysis, and design validation
  • Experience in design cycle from concept through mass production
  • 10+ years of industry experience
  • Experience with precision parts, consumer electronics or PCB design
  • Clear and concise communication skills
